[She's outside on the grounds by the lake practicing some spells. She looks as serious as usual and there is a book floating next to her that every now and then flips to another page when she flicks her wand.

Now for the next spell. Exams are coming up and she is not going to let herself do anything less than perfect on all of them. Crap]

[And this was Asticus who has been in Gryffindor this whole time rather than Hufflepuff. He's a lot less reserved than his normal counterpart. A lot more dangerprone, too.]

Look ou--? [She had been so deep in concentration she hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings. Mag turns her head just in time to receive a quaffle right to the face. She shrieks and her wand falls out of her hand causing the book to fall. She stumbles back, sways for a moment and SPLASH falls right into the lake.]

[Oh shit. OH SHIT SHE FELL IN. THAT'S TERRIBLE OH GOD. Wait what's he do. Call for help? Oh no too slow. OKAY JUMPING INTO THE LAKE TO GET YOU.]

[Welp. It's kind of hilarious how one small decision when you're eleven can basically change the outcome of your life. House-sorting certainly had that effect on Jake. His lineage had also hung over him like a dark cloud, and though he was too young at the time to get it, he realized now why the Hall got so very quiet the moment the hat shouted out his house.

Well, that was the way it was sometimes. Jake was maybe mad about it early on, but that wasn't the case anymore. He was a Slytherin. So be it. Was he his father? No. He was better.

He was going to be better than his father and show all of the ignorant sods out there that put a curse upon him because of his name. He wore his name like a badge of defiance and he applied himself like someone with something to prove.

His morals suffered a little because of it, and he wasn't really as friendly as he might have been if he was elsewhere, but there you go. ]

Gryffindirk Stridor

[ Things have gone in approximately the opposite direction for Dirk. Winding up in Gryffindor has exaggerated his already reckless nature, and he had only a passing nature in the Dark Arts a couple years back before realizing that they conflict with this inconvenient sense of morals he's found himself with.

Jake doesn't seem like a bad guy deep down, so Dirk still hangs around him. And might possibly still have a "thing" for him, but hasn't said anything about it. Because more than that, it feels like he has to keep an eye on this guy. Keep history from repeating itself.

This would be Dirk coming across Jake in a hallway one night, doing his prefect hall monitor rounds. ]

[Jake was likely also a prefect so them bumping shoulders was definitely something that happened.

He liked Dirk a lot. Maybe the blood thing was something that should have made him leery but that was one Slytherin trait he didn't much care for. Personally speaking, he knew that lineage didn't make a damn about who you were supposed to be and muggleborns did just as well in magic as anyone else. For the most part, anyway.

He smiled though, and it wasn't a scheming smile either, which he had often. It was a friendly one. Dirk was one of the few he liked keeping close. There was just something honest in the guy that he liked.]

[Had he been sorted into any other house, he would have been taken in with open arms.

But being a Slytherin really jaded Bro. He still thought the school was the best thing, but the walls he had to throw up were even taller than before. Bro fought to show why he was Slytherin material.

He soared through his classes. He became one of the best flyers the school had ever saw. He was angry they didn't let them in his first year. He made sure to show that they would have been amazing had they let him in when he blew everyone away in his second year.

Bro was a terrifying force. He could be at par in dueling with even the higher years. Hell, he already could pull off incantations with just the flick of his wand. No words needed. While he was affectionate to only close people and his siblings, he had become a cold-hearted being. People respected him, but out of fear.

It was incredibly lonely.]

[ Living at Hogwarts at the ripe young age of seven is hard. It's hard and nobody understands. It's even harder when the guy raising you is in Slytherin rather than some happy cheerful house like Hufflepuff.

So Dirk's a pretty quiet kid. He can often be found chilling in his bro's dorm room, practicing his puppet-sewing. ]

[Bro slinks back into the dorm room. Even under his shades, you can see a black eye forming and it looks like Bro didn't try to clean himself up too much. He looks tired, tossing his robes off onto the bed before taking a seat next to Dirk.]

[ Oh no. Did Bro get in another fight? This would be Dirk worrying -- although he learned long ago not to let that show on his face. So he just looks up blankly and holds up the smuppet to which he is attaching a nose. ]
